Missions
The support and encouragement of missions is fundamental
to the purpose of Calvary Baptist Church and our role in spreading
the Gospel by carrying out the
Great Commission. The church uses 21% of all received
tithes and offerings for the direct support of missions or
mission sponsoring organizations.
Calvary Baptist Church provides prayer and financial support
to the following organizations:
Baptist Children's Home and Family Services
Fox Valley Baptist Association
Ilinois Baptist State Association Cooperative
Program
Indo-China Mission-Bethel
Mexican Indian Training Center
Riverwoods Christian Center
Wycliffe Bible Translators
Baptist Children's Home and Family Services
- The Baptist
Children's Home and Family Services is a private child
caring agency operated in affiliation with the Illinois
Baptist State Association. They exist to care for children
who have been abused, abandoned, neglected or are otherwise
in crisis. BCHFS cares for approximately 560 children and
families in Illinois and its contiguous states each year.
Services are provided at four locations throughout Illinois:
a residential campus located in Carmi, Illinois that provides
housing, counseling and schooling for children; a facility
in Mount Vernon, Illinois that provides maternity, adoption,
and foster care programs; and locations in Chicago and Fairview
Heights, Illinois that provide Christian counseling and related
family services.

Fox Valley Baptist Association -
The Fox Valley Baptist Association
is an association of 33 Baptist churches and missions located
in or near the Fox Valley of northeastern Illinois. The association
provides mutual support and fellowship to member churches
through a variety of programs and conferences. The FVBA is
also instrumental in providing leadership and financial support
for church plants and mission status churches throughout the
Fox Valley area.

Illinois Baptist State Association Cooperative
Program - Since its inception in 1925, the Illinois
Baptist State Association Cooperative Program has provided
financial support to local, national, and international ministries
and missions. This program is a cooperative program between
state associations and the Southern
Baptist Convention. A designated amount of offerings from
local churches are forwarded to the IBSA, which votes yearly
on the percentage of these gifts to keep at the state level
and the percentage to forward to the SBC. In 2001, for example,
that percentage was 58.25% in Illinois and 41.75% to the SBC.
At the state level gifts are used to support the various programs
of the state association. Some of the gifts return to local
associations and churches through programs sponsored by the
state association. At the Southern Baptist Convention level,
gifts are used to fund over 5000 missionaries in 154 countries
as well as six seminaries, an ethics and religious liberty
commission and ongoing operations of the Southern Baptist
Convention.
Indo-China Mission-Bethel - Founded
by the Bethel Baptist
Church of Saint Charles, Illinois, the Indo-China mission
serves the people of Cambodia. Missionaries Glenn and Saveun
Colley operate the mission from a base church outside of Phnom
Penh. The base church has in turn planted 7 other churches.
The work of the mission includes a Bible school which trains
ministerial candidates and workers for village churches, a
medical ministry which provides transportation and financial
assistance to those needing hospital care or midwife services,
treatment and dispensing of medications for common illnesses
and a wound care center.
Glenn and Saveun give God the credit for the success of
their work and welcome every opportunity to show the love
of Jesus Christ in action through the mission.

Mexican Indian Training Center -
Founded in 1956 the Mexican
Indian Training Center is a non-denominational evangelical
Christian ministry, headquartered in Cordoba, Veracruz, Mexico,
a city of approximately 200,000 people located one hour due
west of Vera Cruz on the eastern coast of Mexico. It serves
the spiritual, educational, and medical needs of indigenous
Mexican people. With the support of individuals and American
churches as well as the guidance of both a Mexican and American
Board of Directors, the work of all the ministries is offered
for the praise of God and the spreading of the good news of
the Gospel.
M.I.T.C. consists of three interrelated ministries; a post
secondary Bible school located in Cordoba, a missionary support
network which oversees the work of former students and mission
churches in the mountainous regions of southern Mexico, and
general medical and surgical missions.

Wycliffe
Bible Translators - Although still in its infancy,
Calvary Baptist Church is blessed to provide prayer and financial
support to the mission ministry of Calvary members Art and
Denice Aviles. Feeling the call of God to the mission field,
Art and Denice and their children, Micah and Josiah, will
soon be traveling to the country of Chad, Africa. Once in
Chad they will be settled with an indigenous tribe and will
face many challenges, including learning the language of the
tribe, formulating a lexicon of the tribal language, and eventually
writing a Bible translation in the tribal language. All this
while teaching the people about the one true Living God and
ministering to their needs.
Please keep the Aviles family in your prayers.
